Redefining digital banking user experiences

At the ebankIT Summit, Pedro Azevedo, Chief Product Officer; Paula Oliveira, Head of Digital Experience; and Luís Allen, Product Analyst took the stage to unveiled ebankIT's new product roadmap focused on human-centric digital technologies.

Pedro Azevedo emphasized that innovation in digital banking isn’t just about speed or cutting-edge features, it’s about creating meaningful, intuitive, and reliable user experiences.

ebankIT’s mission to eliminate poor digital interactions goes beyond fixing bugs or glitches. As Pedro explained, “bad” experiences often stem from uninspired, generic interfaces that fail to engage or empower users.

With a strong focus on customization, configurability, and continuous improvement, ebankIT is committed to transforming these lackluster moments into exceptional digital journeys.

Their approach balances innovation, speed, and reliability, ensuring that every product update brings tangible value to both financial institutions and their customers.

New features shaping the ebankIT platform in 2025

During the session, the ebankIT team unveiled a series of impactful product updates that are already making waves across their client base. These enhancements reflect the company’s commitment to deep personalization, modularity, and user empowerment, core pillars of their product philosophy.

BFO/contact center

As part of its ongoing commitment to seamless digital experiences, ebankIT has revamped its BFO (Back-Front Office) and contact center capabilities, ensuring greater omnichannel consistency across all customer touchpoints.

This update empowers financial institutions to deliver more cohesive, responsive, and personalized service whether users engage via mobile, web, or in-branch channels.

Customizable user dashboard

One of the most exciting updates is the fully customizable user dashboard, designed to give customers unprecedented control over their digital banking experience. Users can now:

  • Personalize their landing page with reorderable and removable widgets
  • Activate new widgets based on their interests and financial goals
  • Configure different layouts for personal and business profiles
  • Access segmented widgets tailored to commercial banking needs, such as pending approvals or large contract overviews

A new financial overview widget was introduced, which provides users with a clear snapshot of their assets and liabilities. This widget aims to simplify financial visibility, especially for users managing multiple products. It's a useful dashboard element that helps users stay informed about their overall financial position.

The platform also introduces a suite of visually rich and functionally powerful widgets, including:

  • A multi-product carousel for quick access to key accounts and services
  • Colorful savings and credit card visualizations that enhance financial clarity
  • Stock market integrations, including live tickers, heatmaps, and top financial news stories

Low code and AI development

As digital banking platforms grow more complex, developer experience and AI integration are becoming central to ebankIT’s evolution. At the Summit, the team showcased how low-code extensibility powered by ebankIT Studio that is enabling faster, more flexible development without compromising reliability or control.

While ebankIT offers a rich set of features out of the box, the platform is designed for customization and modularity, allowing developers to tailor solutions to specific institutional needs. The team is also embracing AI-assisted development not for full code generation, but as a smart companion that enhances productivity while maintaining security and reliability.

The real asset is the knowledge behind that code. So we're keeping control of code. We're automating things for you. We're um making it more efficient using AI assistance rather than handing over the reins to AI altogether.

Pedro Azevedo, Chief Product Officer at ebankIT

Pedro Azevedo emphasized a thoughtful approach to AI. Treat it as a liability, it requires maintenance and carries risk. The real asset is the knowledge behind the code. This philosophy underpins ebankIT’s cautious yet innovative use of AI.

One of the most exciting demos was a new feature in Studio X: the “Wireframe to Transaction Wizard.” This AI-powered tool allows developers to upload a hand-drawn sketch such as a form or interface layout and automatically converts it into a functional front end.

Here’s how it works:

  • The AI reads and extracts UI components and labels from the image.
  • It auto-generates the interface, which developers can review, edit, and refine.
  • The output can be compiled and tested instantly in the browser.

Luis Allen highlighted the efficiency gains. AI only generates what it’s confident in. Developers stay in control, and everything remains editable. This approach ensures that AI enhances creativity and speed without sacrificing precision or oversight.

Bulk transaction upload

In a powerful example of localized customization, ebankIT unveiled a complete redesign of its Bill Payments UI, shaped directly by user behavior insights and feedback from Canadian credit unions. This redesign reflects the platform’s ability to adapt to regional expectations while maintaining a consistent experience across channels.

To better serve diverse usage contexts, the team developed two distinct UX flows:

  • Internet Banking: Optimized for users managing multiple payments, this version offers a more detailed and organized interface, ideal for desktop and tablet users who need control and clarity.
  • Mobile Banking: Designed for speed and simplicity, this flow supports quick, single payments on the go, aligning with mobile-first behavior.

Beyond bill payments, ebankIT continues to expand its feature set tailored to Canadian financial institutions and their customers. Key capabilities include:

  • Remote check deposit via web, perfect for tablet users and remote banking scenarios
  • Secure CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) payments, ensuring compliance and convenience
  • Business banking tools, such as Interac transfers and automated funds transfers
  • The ability to view, copy, or share void cheques
  • Seamless access to digital documents, enhancing transparency and record-keeping

Revamped User engagement hub

ebankIT has also introduced a major upgrade to its User Engagement Hub, transforming how financial institutions gather and act on customer feedback. Instead of relying solely on public app store reviews, banks can now collect private, contextual feedback directly within the app, at the moment users are engaging with specific features.

This internal feedback mechanism offers a more controlled, secure, and insightful approach to understanding user experience. Because responses are tied to specific users, devices, and in-app behaviors, institutions can gain deeper, more actionable insights into what’s working, and what needs improvement.

By bringing feedback closer to the user journey, ebankIT empowers banks to identify issues faster, personalize responses, and continuously refine the digital experience based on real-world usage.

Smartwatch app

ebankIT continues to push the boundaries of convenient, context-aware banking with its revamped smartwatch app and system widgets. These tools are designed to give users instant, discreet access to essential account information without needing to open the full banking app.

With the new widgets, users can:

  • View account balances or recent transactions at a glance
  • Choose from multiple sizes and styles to match their device and preferences
  • Access information directly from their home screen or smartwatch face

On smartwatches, the experience is optimized for quick, on-the-go interactions. Users can:

  • Check balances and transaction history
  • Receive real-time notifications
  • Use favorite transactions for rapid money transfers

Whether you're waiting in line at a store or out for a jog, these features are built for real-life convenience, allowing users to stay informed and in control without interrupting their day.

The goal is clear: to make digital banking more accessible, seamless, and respectful of the user’s context, wherever they are.

Making digital banking more human, scalable and accessible

ebankIT is raising the bar for design and developer experience with the Particle Design System, launched in 2024. Built for web, iOS, and Android, it uses customizable design tokens like colors, typography, and spacing to power a flexible component library that ensures consistency, speed, and accessibility across platforms.

A live demo showed how a basic app layout can be instantly transformed into a fully branded experience by adjusting core design elements enabling both rapid development and deep customization.

Accessibility is a core principle, not an afterthought. The system was built with global accessibility standards in mind, and ebankIT is working with external experts to ensure ongoing compliance and inclusivity.

To support this design-first approach, ebankIT is also launching a new documentation portal replacing static PDFs with a dynamic, searchable platform. Content will be organized by product and release version, with short, code-rich pages tailored to developers, designers, and project managers alike. The new site will go live with the next NXP release by year-end.
